It is time for Minority Serving Institution (MSI) endowments to be counted! These colleges and universities play a unique role in providing educational opportunities to African Americans, Latinos, and other historically disadvantaged students. Endowed funds at these institutions get very little attention, but they play a vital role in financial aid, research, and other important expenditures.

Ken Redd

Senior Director, Research and Policy Analysis

NACUBO

Kenneth E. Redd is senior director, research and policy analysis for NACUBO. At NACUBO, Redd directs the annual NACUBO-TIAA Study of Endowments, the NACUBO Tuition Discounting Study, and other studies on higher education finance issues.

In addition to his work at NACUBO, Redd also serves on the board of trustees for the Meadville Lombard School of Theology in Chicago, IL, and is a member of the board of directors for the Unitarian Universalist Common Endowment Fund (UUCEF) and the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE).

Redd has a master’s degree in public affairs from the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota.

Allison Kaspriske

Managing Director

Commonfund Institute

Allison Kaspriske leads the development and management of key research initiatives, including the Commonfund Benchmarks Study of Independent Schools (CSIS), the Council on Foundations-Commonfund Study of Foundations® (CCSF) and the NACUBO-Commonfund Study of Endowments (NCSE). She is responsible for expanding and deepening strategic partnerships to strengthen the firm’s visibility and deliver valuable insights to the broader investment and nonprofit segments. Allison also oversees the Institute’s educational offerings, including Commonfund Institute Online and the Investment Stewardship Academy, and plays a central role in creating new tools and resources that leverage benchmark data and thought leadership. She holds a B.A. in English from the University of Connecticut, Storrs.

Crystal "CJ" Jenkins

Executive Director

Norfolk State University Foundation Inc.

Crystal “CJ” Jenkins has served as Executive Director of the Norfolk State University Foundation, Inc. since 2019. She joined the Foundation in 2012 and advanced through several key financial and leadership positions before assuming her current role. Under her leadership, the Foundation manages more than $180 million in net assets and supports the fiscal integrity and responsible stewardship of private resources entrusted to Norfolk State University. Since 2020, she has helped facilitate more than $11 million in scholarship support for NSU students. CJ brings nearly two decades of nonprofit experience spanning higher education, social services, and faith-based organizations, including service with the South Carolina State University Foundation, Calvary Revival Church, and the YMCA of South Hampton Roads. She serves as the inaugural Board Chair of the Shiloh Baptist Church Legacy Endowment Board of Directors and as an active member of the Richmond VA based 7A Scholarship Board of Directors. She earned her undergraduate degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
