PBAF24: Measuring the Financial Performance of Academic Programs

What are the underpinnings of an effective financial reporting process? Hear how one institution developed enhanced financial reporting of its undergraduate and graduate school programs. The presenter will discuss how they identified data needs, describe methodology, and define key performance indicators resulting from the cost allocation model. This session will also cover the tools and techniques used to present the analysis to key stakeholders throughout the process and show how it effectively promoted buy-in and improved financial transparency within the institution.

Steps to Earn CPE Credit

To earn CPE credit, you will complete the following tasks under the Content tab, after the session has ended:

- Submit the CPE check-out code displayed at the end of the session.
- Download your CPE certificate.

Christopher Crawford is the director of financial planning and data analytics at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary. Before William and Mary, he managed enterprise risk management and internal audit teams at TowneBank, a mid-sized regional bank located in Suffolk, Virginia. There, he used data to improve internal controls, increase efficiencies, and inform decision making. He has also worked in insurance and advertising where he leveraged data to create KPIs (key performance indicators) for review by executive management and for evaluation by venture capitalist firms.
